X320 John Deere
Offshore
Model Year: 2013
Brought a used 2013 X320. Lots of plastic and cheap construction. This an expensive machine but guess what... no gas gauge, no rear tail lights. Purchased a 44 in John Deere snow blower. Made in India. Tire chains made in China. Deck wrench made in Taiwan . John Deere is well started on the slippery slope to total offshore manufacturing.
Pros: Lots of H.P.
Cons: Lower quality versus cost. lots of foreign made parts

Great So Far!
Model Year: 2014
With a new lawn, we added the X320 to help with the work. With @8,000 sq ft. of St Augustine the adjustable skid wheels are a nice touch! We have settled with 3 1/4 inch cut with 3 1/2 on the skid wheels. Looks good, and very little clean up with the mulch kit.
Pros: Anti skid wheels, plenty of power.
Cons: None.

Returned it After Only 15 Minutes of Use
Model Year: 2013
Tried mowing with the 320x. My yard has a slight grade---mower got stuck---tires spinning. Would not move in forward or reverse. Had to have my neighbor bring his older model JD (purchased in the 1990's) to tow me. The 320x is top-heavy, no feeling of security going down a slight hill. Too many knobs, levers, buttons to operate. My neighbor's older JD is built closer to the ground. I can recommend this mower only if you have a very level lot. That being said, the mower feels frail. Lots of rattling and shaking when started. Transmission is not smooth. Lurches forward when gas pedal is pushed. Overall, just didn't feel like a quality product to use.
Pros: Looks nice.
Cons: No traction on slight grades, top-heavy, feels very unsafe, much rattling and shaking when driving.

John Deere X320 54" Deck
Model Year: 2012
I like John Deere because of the many years of good service with my 420. I sold it because I couldn't deal with the weight of changing the loader bucket. I bought a Cub Cadet zero turn, which didn't work out. Then I bought a John Deere LA130 from Lowes. The lousy K46 tranny konked out at 150 hours. I put a new one in and sold the tractor. Then I bought my current tractor, an X320. It seems to run well, but I threw the deck belt off twice, and I wore a hole in the one plastic guard. It was a pain putting the belt back on, but I did it. The traction and balance is way better than the LA130, and I hope the K58 tranny holds up.
Pros: Good initial price, cuts well, good hillside traction.
Cons: Threw deck belt twice.

X320 - Great!
Model Year: 2006
I had a bearing go out of the idler pulley for the deck within a week of purchase. I also had a slight problem (can't think what it was---belt?) on the hydrostatic drive after about 3 years service, but was a simple fix. I mow two to three lots a week, and one is rather hilly and rough, but this tractor has shown no signs of other construction weaknesses. It's built like a tank. Mows great, and I have the 48" deck. Wish it had the hose adapter for easier cleaning, and although it's fairly easy to remove for service, it's a multi-step process that should be simpler.
Pros: Durability, reliability, mows like a pro- most maneuverable I've ever driven.
Cons: Less complex deck removal.

Problems From The Start
Model Year: 2013
I have had two major problems with this machine. The deck lift takes all of my weight to lock it in place and unlike other people said the steering is not that easy to turn. The dealer came to my home and could not repair the problems so I am upgrading to a X360 that has a power lift, steering, tilt wheel & a serviceable transmission. Another issue is the bagger cover does not seal on the left side and blows grass all over the operator. The dealer didn't cut the shoot correctly and it could not be removed so I had to cut it myself. Lucky for me at this time Deere has a 30 day no hassle return so I hope the dealer can fix the bagger and the new X360 for an extra $1,000 will work correctly. Does anyone know if the power flow should make a bearing type sound after a hour of mowing?
Pros: Starts easy, ride smooth, cuts even, low fuel light.
Cons: Lift system, steering hard to turn.

X-320 Review
Model Year: 2009
Did a lot of looking owned a LX 176 for 15 years, So far great! Seems to me, for my needs, this tractor is the biggest bang for the buck.
Pros: EZ steering, and the mulching kit is worth investing in.
Cons: Some, but you have to spend more money to get the "extras" I would like.

Good lawn tractor, better than most garden tractors. Cut quality is excellent, as is the build quality. Owners manual is top notch and the plethora of info on the Internet is a huge plus. Dealer makes me want to go back even though it's 4 times as far as competitor dealerships. I have some slopes in my 2 acre field and that is the only thing that has me worried with this tractor. Definitely is slower on those hills. For the price is a good product but is expensive for what is just a mower and leaf collection tool.
Pros: Functional, quality, owners manual, dealership.
Cons: Price.

JD X320 Lawn Tractor
Model Year: 2006
This is a tremendous tractor in a lot of ways, and has great creature comforts. We run three different tractors all of various manufacturers, and none are as comfy to drive as the X320. Our ONLY gripe is that the deck belts do not last very long as compared to our other tractors. We replaced the original belt at just over 100 hours. We also had to disable the no-deck-drive-in-reverse feature so we could get some work done.
Pros: Creature comforts.
Cons: Not many; deck drive belts are kind of short lived.

Build Quality: Very thin paint on mowing deck around anti-scalp mounting brackets. Features: No fuel gauge, hard to see fuel level through translucent fuel tank. Performance: No issues so far, very quiet, no problems on grades, "feels" very strong, steers exceptionally easy, very tight turning radius, transmission very smooth. Value: Considering the pick up I have cost me 10x more than the one I bought 20 years ago, the X320 was only about 5x more than the tractor I bought 20 years ago. Reliability: Excellent so far Dealer experience: Probably being kind at 3 stars. Offered me a ridiculous trade value. I traded without deck and all other attachments. Sold the deck for more than he offered me in total. Told is was set up and ready to mow at delivery. Mowed or should I say scalped the heck out of my lawn before I realized it. Checked deck level, not even close. Couldn't find the "included" tool is adjust deck. Called the dealer to inquire about the tool and was told they don't include it anymore because it tears up the owners manual.....Huh? Had to drive to another dealer to get it. I'll add one more category: Engineering, and let you decide the importance: The location of the PTO, just below the ignition, is a problem. If you have anything on the key ring you have your key on, another key (to the barn in my case) or a key tag, it will find it's way into the space between the PTO switch and dash board. The slightest tap on the reverse peddle, disengages the mower deck, that's when I realized my barn key had wedged into space mentioned above. It's also a little annoying to have to remember to hold up on the PTO to prevent the disengagement. Oil filter removal is really tight. Hard to get oil filter wrench (I tried three types) in there to remove it. Overall, I really like this tractor. I hear people say "they don't make 'em like the used to". I agree, they make them much better! The comfort, style and so far performance, far exceeds the JD I purchases almost 20 years ago.
Pros: Sleek, stylish, powerful, comfortable, "good looking machine".
Cons: Dealer experience, minor engineering issues, but I'm certainly not an engineer, may well be reasons for the things that bother me.

This review will be my initial impression as I just received it and only mowed once, only 2 hours on it. Build Quality: I'm a little concerned about the paint application of the 48" deck. Under the welded bracket for the anti-scalp wheels, I can see bare metal, the paint is extremely thin to non-existent. Features: The dash layout is a little awkward. If you have anything attached to your key ring (dealer tag, barn key, etc.), it works it's way into the space under the PTO as you're mowing. You have to almost pry it out to push the PTO back down. This is a bit problematic with the disengagement of the deck when you go into reverse. Performance: So far, very impressed. Lots of power, smooth ride, quiet. Value: Would give it 5 stars if not for the paint on the deck. I guess I would expect a little better considering the price. Don't know if they would re-paint under warrantee. Reliability: If it runs for 18 years without needing a single service (other than maintenance) like my last one, I'll be extremely happy to say the least Dealer Experience: One was crap, one pretty good and one excellent. First one: took 3+ weeks to replace a carb on my old tractor. Second, the one I actually purchases the X320 from, fair at best. I had asked upon delivery if the deck was leveled and was told yes. Not, I scalped the heck out of my lawn. When I went to adjust the deck, the tool I needed was not delivered with the tractor. I called the dealer and was told "it used to be in with the owners manual but it was tearing up the manual so we don't deliver them anymore". If that's the case the advertising needs to be adjusted so the customer doesn't expect it. The third dealer, the one I was referred to to pick up my missing deck adjustment tool from, was excellent and then some! When I arrived to pick up the tool, they had it waiting with my name on it, asked me if I new how to use it, and actually demo-ed it for me on a tractor from the show room. I inquired about a brush guard for the tractor. The salesman told me he doubted if they had them in stock but that he would check. Another gentleman said he was sure he had one on another tractor he could get for me, took it off another tractor and even showed me how to install it! Now that's what I'm talking about, Service!
Pros: Power.
Cons: Deck Paint - Suspect Dealer Service.

Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 2010
I love the way this machine mows and handles. It steers so easy and quick. The seat is comfortable and being able to adjust it is a big plus. Also it's so much quieter than my old one. My only complaint is the lack of a gas gauge! I mean how much can it cost to include a gauge!? I have to get off tractor, walk behind it, stoop down, and look at the tank. Then it is still hard to see where the level is. Although, I guess I can live with that as the rest of the tractor is so great!
Pros: Almost everything.
Cons: Lack of gas gauge.

Excellent Tractor
Model Year: 2007
It's been an great little workhorse mowing 2+ acres, hauling countless things in the 10p trailer and snowblowing 300' of driveway. Comfortable and easy to get on/off of and routine maintenance is easier than than previously owned riders. Low steering effort and a tight turning radius (16") despite not having four wheel steering or power steering. Leaves a nice smooth even cut. Had the seat upholstery crack and a front tire tire keep going soft- both taken care of under warranty. Just replaced the battery which had trouble holding a charge last winter. Dislikes- no fuel gauge ...... you have to look at the translucent tank from the rear; when it's dusty/dirty it's hard to tell the fuel level. More expensive than the L series but it's a lot more tractor. Dealer (Frontier Ag & Turf) has been excellent.
Pros: Comfortable, reliable, well made, great dealer, 48 mo./300 hr warranty on new models
Cons: lack of a fuel gauge, lack of ground engaging implements- you have to go to X500 series
